Aerial Photos and Video allow Construction Site Progress Monitoring

Drone use in AEC industries has come a long way since using it for marketing videos only. Drones and other reality capture tools are now used in all phases of construction and real estate development to collect data previously performed by other methods because it is safer, faster, and in many cases, cheaper than conventional methods of geospatial and visual data collection.

The use of such geospatial data is becoming increasingly important as more organizations and governments recognize the value of just-in-time data-driven decision-making. Such data can help make planning decisions, optimize resource allocation, increase productivity, and improve public safety and security.

V1DroneMedia is based in Cleveland, Ohio, and has been in business for over 7 years. It was started by an aviation expert who is also a trained engineer and a self-taught photographer and videographer (read our story in the About Us section).

Drone Mapping and 3D Modeling

We use Drone Photogrammetry software to process aerial imagery to generate land survey outputs at a fraction of time and cost vs. traditional methods while achieving the same level of accuracy and offering additional benefits

Drone Mapping Application for Cut/Fill Calculations

  • Orthomosaic maps and point clouds for accurate distance, area, and volume measurements (including cut/fill data for stockpiles)

Digital Elevation Model

  • Digital Elevation Models with calculations

  • 3D models that allow for easy site inspections and asset management programs when taken at regular intervals, and can be incorporated into existing BIM and MEP documentation

  • Point Clouds

Aerial and Ground Media

  • Aerial video and photos taken at regular intervals of time (weekly, bi-monthly) allows to monitor and document project progress over time

  • Creating 3D models, site maps, and construction site virtual tours gives managers, customers, owner reps, and other interested parties the ability to compare to the original design and verify changes; tour the site from anywhere, enhancing the team’s collaboration, customer transparency, and communication

  • Full Video Production: Ground and Aerial footage fully edited with text and audio for any marketing goals you have

  • Produce marketing photos and videos for customer presentations, website portfolio, and social media (such as this Hyperlapse video and the below example of a before/during construction social post)

Aerial Inspections

Drones are perfect tools for visual inspections of building roofs, façades, bridges, construction sites, vertical equipment, solar panels, energy assets, unreachable terrain, etc.

Such inspections increase the speed of data collection and improve the safety of inspectors since the actual inspection happens in front of the computer screen when the inspector is viewing the aerial data output.

These inspections can be conducted by producing aerial photography, drone videography, and 3D models to help document and inspect assets’ condition, recording them at intervals required by federal, state, or local municipal regulations.

Aerial inspections can also help manage and maintain facilities, and be used for insurance documentation and assessment before underwriting and during claim processing and adjustment.
